German-Style Apple and Sausage Stuffing

1 pound; bratwurst

1 box (12 oz.) of Mrs. Cubbison's Traditional Seasoned Stuffing

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced

1 cup; chopped celery

1/2 cup; chopped onion

1 1/2 cups; water or chicken broth


  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Liberally grease a 2 1/2- to 3-quart casserole dish and set aside.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, as well as the sausage drippings, with all of the remaining ingredients except for the water or chicken broth. Stir in the liquid.
  4. Transfer the stuffing to the prepared casserole dish and cover. Bake on middle rack of preheated 325°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. If a crisp top is desired, uncover the dish and bake for 10 additional minutes.
