California Prune and Apple Stuffing

2 medium-size green apples; cored and diced

1/2 cup; sliced celery

2 tablespoons; minced parsley

1/2 cup; butter or margarine

2 tablespoons; sugar

1/2 cup; chopped Sunsweet Pitted Prunes

1/2 box (6 oz.) of Mrs. Cubbison's Traditional Seasoned Stuffing

1/2 - 3/4 cup; water or apple juice


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine apples with celery and parsley. Melt butter; add apple mixture and sugar and simmer gently for 3 – 5 minutes. Combine with stuffing and enough water or juice to moisten. Add prunes.
  3. Makes enough stuffing for a 4 to 5 pound chicken. Double recipe for 10 to 12 pound turkey or to fill 2-quart casserole.
  4. To prepare as a casserole, place stuffing in a greased baking dish, and bake on middle rack of preheated 350°F oven for 45 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. For crisper top, uncover for the last 15 minutes of cooking time.
