German-Style Apple and Sausage Stuffing

1 pound; bratwurst

1 box (12 oz.) of Mrs. Cubbison's Traditional Seasoned Stuffing

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced

1 cup; chopped celery

1/2 cup; chopped onion

1 1/2 cups; water or chicken broth


  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Liberally grease a 2 1/2- to 3-quart casserole dish and set aside.
  • Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, as well as the sausage drippings, with all of the remaining ingredients except for the water or chicken broth. Stir in the liquid.
  • Transfer the stuffing to the prepared casserole dish and cover. Bake on middle rack of preheated 325°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • If a crisp top is desired, uncover the dish and bake for 10 additional minutes.
